What is therapy? Psychotherapy/talk therapy is a process during which individuals with the therapist talk about the concerns that trigger the need for services within a confidential, safe, and supportive environment and work on targeted goals and objectives that are specific to each individual. Psychotherapy can be beneficial for those struggling with difficult and painful emotions/ experiences /memories as well as for those who seek to improve their general life, build essential emotional competencies, repair fragmented relationships or work toward self enhancement. Psychotherapy allows individuals to explore their feelings, beliefs, behaviors, work through challenging or influential memories, identify aspects of their lives that they would like to change, better understand themselves and others, set personal goals, and work toward desired outcome.
What happens at the initial session? During the initial session, therapist and client begin to build rapport, expectations of the relationship is conveyed, and together develop a road map. Initial assessment last between 53-90 minutes (individual vs. couple).

Duration: Follow up individual/group/or couple therapy session typically last between 53-90 minutes depending on need and nature of concerns and agreed upon duration after the initial visit/session.
Expected Length of Service ( ELOS): Therapy is an at will service. Clients may receive therapy until goals are achieved or until client or therapist discontinue the service. The ELOS is different for each individual is based on necessity/need. Once therapist and client agree that goals set on the treatment plan have been achieved thus therapy and it is determined that therapy is no longer beneficial, it is recommended that clients process and reflect on the experience, identify gains and future planning for maintenance and therapy be terminated.
